Runar Alvseike
Data Platform EngineerRunar is a Data Engineer and has worked with BI and Data & Analytics for 9 years, and in recent years has been involved in building data lakehouse-based data platforms.
Here he has been part of an end-to-end journey by mapping existing data warehouse capabilities and dependencies, identifying current and future needs from a functional and user perspective, and designing and implementing architecture to ensure a robust technology platform. Through this, he has gained experience and insight into several business areas including finance, sales, marketing, customer service and maritime operations. This has enabled him to take a holistic view of the data lifecycle and the importance of realising value through good data products in line with the client’s business strategy. Recent examples of Runar’s work include:
- Responsible for organisational design, recruitment and building a Data & Analytics team for a large organisation
- Responsible for architecture design, as well as planning and implementation of components in a new data platform
- Responsible for design and development of several important data models from A to Z for multiple business areas
Through his work, he has developed a fondness for dbt, Databricks and Azure Data Factory, and has extensive prior experience with Power BI.
Runar loves talking to people to understand their situation, map their needs and realise their dream products in Data & Analytics. You will often find him at meetups, conferences and other social events to stay up to date and get to know new faces. He has previously been team lead, product owner and Data Engineer at Hurtigruten Data & Analytics - as well as a consultant at KPMG and RAV.
