Glitni | Summary of the First Half of 2022 for Glitni

It has been fun running a consulting company this half-year! And what makes it so fun? Well, getting things done. Including the cliche 'getting things done together.' Because it is quite fun when everyone is running in the same direction and rolling up their sleeves when it counts. This great team has truly done just that.

We accomplished a lot in the first half of 2022. Here are our highlights:

Client engagements in the retail sector

We have all been working from day one. Strangely enough, all our clients (4 in total, all well-known brands) have so far been in retail or among those who supply the retail sector. Perhaps we will become really good at something else as well next half-year?

At our clients, we have served as:

  • project manager for the implementation of a new data platform
  • product owner for an existing data platform
  • advisor for establishing a target architecture for a data platform
  • data platform developer and architect
  • project manager for the establishment of a new store concept (that one was a bit off-topic, but apparently fun to work on)

We have worked across technologies and architectural patterns - and strive to advise on what is best for the user stories. Right now, the patterns we work most with are data lakehouse and organisational approaches like #datamesh. We may have been caught up in the hype, but there is a lot of good sense behind these vague concepts. It has mostly been Azure, Databricks and dbt this half-year, but some of us are hoping we can play more with Google Cloud again soon.

Expanding our expert team

We have grown to 6 consultants, with the latest person signing on at the end of June. We are really looking forward to you starting! We are now roughly equally balanced between advisory profiles and technical architects/senior developers. But we want to become even more, so just get in touch with us if you are curious!

Maintaining a vibrant social environment

We have had breakfasts, pleasant dinners both out and at home, been on a cabin trip - and now we hope that the social programme for the autumn will hopefully be at least equally good. Maybe we can manage a mountain hike and try out Padel?

Establishing an online presence

We are fairly good at being visible, we think, especially on LinkedIn, Glitni.no and with ambitions on Medium.

But as with so much else, it is difficult to make writing and publishing articles and opinions on social media a habit that becomes second nature. We are working on it.

Streamlining administrative processes

There is actually quite a bit that needs to be put in place in terms of visual identity, engagement letters, employment contracts, employee handbook, accounting system, website, insurance, and so on. But now we have everything we need in the short term. And it was not that difficult - it just takes a bit of time, all things considered.

Exciting news: We now have office space at a Mesh in central Oslo. We hope to outgrow it before the next half-year summary. To be continued.

If this piqued your curiosity, feel free to get in touch with us or follow us on LinkedIn.
